The Investments Of Wes Edens

Wes Edens is one of several co-founders of Fortress Investment Group. He helped start in in 1998 and was instrumental in making it extremely successful. It is from FIG that he made his vast fortune totaling in the billions. This has allowed him to make several big investments. In 2014, he also became a co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks. Around the same time, he became a co-owner of the English soccer club, Aston Villa. Both of the aforementioned sports teams are either struggling or not doing that well so his purchases were seen as quite a substantial gamble.

Another risky investment Wes Edens has made is putting billions into constructing a passenger train line in Florida where driving cars is especially favored. This line is called Brightline and opened up services for traveling from Fort Lauderdale and Miami in January. Hopefully, this will pay off for him as has another controversial investment of $124 million he made in Springleaf Holdings Inc. His stakes value have since skyrocketed to a worth of $3.5 billion.

Wes Edens is quite the outdoorsman in his spare time. This love of the great outdoors was something he learned while being raised in Montana. He is today still an avid skier and rock climber. His favorite place to do both is in Jackson, Wyoming where he recently constructed a new luxury motel. After he graduated high school, he attended and graduated from Oregon State University in 1985 with a degree in Finance and Business Administration. After his education he worked at bank in San Francisco, soon getting a job on Wall Street in Lehman Brothers.

In 1993 Wes Edens became a partner and managing director at BlackRock. And then, as mention, in 1998 he co-founded Fortress Investment Group. In 2014, he founded clean air infrastructure developer, New Fortress Energy.
